Have you ever wondered why the Seventh-day Adventists departed with such haste from their long-time headquarters in Battle Creek? Their departure in 1902 comes upon the heels of Mrs. White's failed Chicago Buildings Vision of 1900. J.H. Kellogg, the falsely-accused victim of Ellen's false vision, was quite vociferous in letting his brethren in Battle Creek know the facts. Before long, many doctors and leading individuals in Battle Creek began to get their eyes opened to the true nature of Ellen White's visions. In a short while, the larger community of Battle Creek was buzzing about Ellen White's latest false testimony. SDA leaders began to feel the heat. But rather than admit they were following a false prophet, they chose to tuck their tail and go to a place where they were less well-known. Before long, SDA buildings began to mysteriously catch fire, and the SDAs hastily abandoned their long-time headquarters.
