Flying Snakes? |
|
Ellen White wrote in Patriarchs and Prophets that snakes in the Garden of Eden had wings and flew through the air. Today many SDAs assume Ellen White saw this in vision without realizing it came from John Milton's imagination. Recently, science has discovered that boa constrictors and pythons have tiny, unused leg bones. These are vestigial remnants from their ancestors. In other words, they have undeveloped legs (not wings).
The DNA for limb development is present in their genome, but it is not active. This provides possible evidence for the Biblical account, but there remains no evidence to support Ellen White's fanciful account of shiny flying snakes.
